This OilGuard variant of the K770 MKII additionally features an innovative optical detection system which is designed to prevent catastrophic engine failures caused by incorrect fuel-oil mixes or neat fuel.

It is designed to be used in combination with Husqvarna OilGuard 2-Stroke oil, a high-quality 2-stroke oil that contains a unique colourant that the optical detector looks for. Without this present, the saw cannot be manually pulled over and started. When there is no access to Husqvarna OilGuard oil, it is still possible to fuel and use OilGuard saws provided that the optical detection system has been manually deactivated first.
